The Inner Transmutation

Negative energy is information. What it becomes, once you stop burying it and start listening to it.

The letter

The Inner Transmutation

Someone said something to you recently that you are still carrying.

A remark about your work, your character, your intelligence. You either let it pass or you answered it too well, and either way it is still here — sitting behind the ribs, waiting.

What you do with that feeling over the next few days will matter more than the remark ever did.

The Structure

A malevolent society functions through a system of control and conditioning. It desires constituents who are debauched, powerless, and dependent. Thus, it restricts intelligent beings to their most primitive self, irresolute of connecting with the internal power. One such common trapping is the idea around negative energy. Commonly, our intention is to suppress it or ignore it. When suppression or ignorance is implemented, the negative energy festers, grows, and becomes something undesirable. We often become laboured with a sense of uncontrollable inner turmoil presenting itself as anxieties, fears, or doubts.

The Reversal

So, let’s reverse our understanding of this notion. Simply, negative energy is just information. Information that can be used as a guide to navigate our inner and external worlds. Rather than fearing the negative energy, consider,

  • What if the negativity is an answer to question/s you’ve failed to ask?
  • What if it has arrived to change a poor or limiting perspective?
  • What if it is asking you to look within for your growth?

This is not to negate the impact of negative energies; instead, it is a call to explore the lessons, understanding that no feeling is superfluous or redundant. All of it is telling us something, only if we choose to listen.

Recall a time when someone insulted you, aimed at belittling you, or even tried to suppress you in some way. What feeling did that evoke? Did you act to appease the ego, the feeling? Or were you so connected with your inner self that you remained calm and composed? The difference in the action taken is that instead of being defensive, apologetic, or cautious — you become so self-possessed and controlled that the energy becomes a resource to your most powerful transformation.

The Unbecoming

To utilise negative energy, one must acknowledge the pain or the emotional injury and turn it into something viable and actionable. What did it mean to you? How did it feel? What did it change? What did it cost you? For instance, someone insults your intelligence. The natural reaction is to defend, and while this may satiate the ego, did you grow from it? The unbecoming is the stripping of negative energy from the form it arrived in — an insult, a slight, a dismissal — until what is left is simply energy, and yours to direct. Subsequently, instead of defending your intelligence, you increase that intelligence. This is not done to prove the person wrong; however, you are utilising the energy to transcend into a more powerful version of yourself. In essence, one has to die to oneself, becoming renewed through faith.

Luke 9:23 “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

Furthermore, practise replacing negative feelings with prayer, love, and gratitude. Each time a perpetrator insults you or aims to undermine you, meet that feeling with gratitude, prayer, and an honest acknowledgement of your own worth. The more you transmute negative energies the more powerful you become. Additionally, it lulls your perpetrator into a false sense of security. A sort of blind assurance that they have accomplished their toxic goal. All the while you are becoming who you truly are, and that becoming is not an act of revenge or vengeance, but an act of freedom.

This week

Ten minutes, this week, to strip one remark of its form:

  1. Write the remark down exactly as it was said, and who said it. Not how it felt — the words.
  2. Underneath, name what it went after: your work, your character, your intelligence, your worth.
  3. Ask the three questions. What has it answered? What perspective is it asking you to change? Where is it asking you to look?
  4. Choose one small action that increases the very thing they came for. An hour of study. A page written. One honest conversation.
  5. Do it this week. When it is done, write one line of gratitude beside it — not for them, for yourself.
